This right-sized cottage located a short quarter-mile mile walk to the beach responds to its environment in multiple ways:  Storm resiliency is provided through the use of Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) primary structure and the increased finish floor elevation. The open courtyard and breezeway between the home and the garage is tuned to embrace the dominant southeast gulf breeze and provide shade throughout the day with a targeted concern for completely blocking the hot late-day west sun. These concepts in concert provide a pleasantly usable exterior space that functions as another room of the house. The interior of the three bed / three bath cottage is a modest 1,500 square feet, but takes advantage of lofted areas afforded by the vaulted ceilings to increase functional space within the cottage footprint. Finishes are modest throughout with polished concrete floors and light use of natural wood.
